If you have an older Macbook that you haven't updated the OS in years, or Windows XP running on something - It will work just fine, and it will let you enter that serial number and go right to work. Anime Studio Debut 11 for beginner animators is fun, easy, and exciting. Evidently, their product checks the OS release date, and if that date is too far to the right of the AS8 Pro release date, it locks the serial number entry box and you can't use it in full-blown mode.
But it won't let you enter the serial number in the box. They want you to buy the latest and greatest version, and they don't support any release prior. It won't run and SmithMicro won't do anything to help you. If you are buying it for your Macbook or iMac and you've been doing the regular OS X updates from Apple, don't buy Anime Studio version 8. (April 2017 tried on Macbook with OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 - Did not work)Ĭaution, this is an older version of Anime Studio!
